SUZANNE HOUCK MIXED MEDIA ARTIST

My art combines images from the past and present using symbolism, whimsy, and surreal content in a variety of shapes from organic to geometric. My contemporary narrative has a philosophical and intimate quality with a spare mixture of poetic and playful elements and a no-rules internal vision.

My inspiration comes from the endless beauty and variety of nature, as well as architecture and America’s evolving culture. I use canvas, wood, fabric, photos, and paper, achieving cohesiveness with a limited color palette, texture and careful attention to compositional elements. My work has been featured in a number of local and national venues. I have completed a variety of university and private art classes in mixed media, printmaking, acrylic and watercolor art.
